1.     General Information

 

1.1. Theoretical, methodological, discussion, critical articles, results of research on geological and geographical scientific areas developing at SSU, authored or co-authored by the staff departments of the University were published in issues of the “Izvestia of Saratov University. New Series. Series: Earth Sciences” journal. Editorial Board welcomes publication of the authors, employees of other organizations on topical issues and the fundamental natural science research and uses the right to recommend for publication custom articles by leading experts from Russia.

Previously published materials and materials submitted for publication in other journals will not be accepted.

1.2. The length of full paper should be at most 16 pages and include up to 5 figures and 4 tables. Recommended text editor - Microsoft Office 1997 - 2003 (*. doc).

1.3. Paper should be written concisely, neatly framed and carefully edited.

1.4. To publish a paper the author should submit the following materials and documents to the editor:

·        the text of the paper signed by the all authors. It should include an abstract and key words (a short description of the subject of research, results and conclusions) both in Russian and in English, as well as tables, pictures with their captions;

·        information about authors: their names and lastnames, affiliation, position, scientific degree and academic rank (in Russian and English), business addresses and telephone numbers, faxes and e-mails. The author responsible for correspondence should be indicated;

·        electronic files of all the above mentioned materials;

·        external review.

1.5. All papers are peer-reviewed  (see A Guide for Reviewing Manuscripts).  Reviews of papers suggesting to make revisions are sent to the authors in electronic form via e-mail, a review of rejected papers are sent to the authors in writing.

1.6. Authors of papers accepted for publication, along with the review, will be sent a publishing agreement (2 copies), which the authors should sign and send to the Editorial office of the journal. One signed copy of the agreement will be returned to the authors.

1.7. Papers directed to the author for revision should be returned in the revised form (2 copies) along with the original version in short time. Authors should attach a letter, containing answers to all review comments and explaining all of the changes made to the paper. If a paper is detained for more than three months, or if re-revision is required, it will be considered as a new submission.

1.8. In compliance with Part 1 of Article 9 of the Federal Law FZ-152 “On personal data” of July 27, 2006, authors grant their consent to their personal data processing by any legally permitted method to Saratov State University (SSU), located at: 83 Astrakhanskaya St., Saratov 410012. Each author shall send a filled-in and signed Consent to Personal Data Processing form to the editorial board.

1.9. The work of the author (personal data subject) is included in the archive after the publication of the next issue of the periodical. The storage, arrangement, registration and use of archival issues, containing personal data is carried out in accordance with Part 2, paragraph 2 of Article 1 of the Federal Law FZ-152 “On personal data”of July 27, 2006 in conformity with the legislation on archiving.

1.10. Publication of papers is free of charge.

2. Structure of publications

2.1. The manuscript should contain the index classification, the title of the paper, names and surnames of the authors, affiliation and e-mails of the authors, a brief abstract (15 lines at most) and keywords (both in Russian and in English).

2.2. The paper can provide gratitude and indicate the sources of finance support. The paper should contain references.

2.3. The information about the authors should be provided on a separate page:

- In Russian: surname, first name, title, affiliation (full official name of the institution, department, division), position, contact information (E-mail);

- In English: surname, first name, title, affiliation, job title, contact information (E-mail).

2.4. The author responsible for correspondence should be indicated.

 

3. Structure of manuscripts

3.1.   The volume of manuscripts (including a list of references) should not exceed 16 pages prepared in accordance with style file, or 16 typewritten pages (A4 size, margins of at least 2 cm type 14). Papers with more than 16 pages will be considered only by agreement with the editorial board.

3.2.   The abstract should not contain big formulas, references to the text of the paper or to the list of references. English translation of the abstract should match the text in Russian.

3.3.   Formulas not referenced in the text should not be numbered.

3.4.   Picture format should provide a clear view of all the details, made in black-and-white.

3.5.   Each table should be numbered in Arabic numeral, and may have a thematic title briefly revealing its contents. Column subheadings should be concise and informative. The units are specified after the comma.

3.7.   The list of references should be treated according to GOST 7.1-76 "Bibliographic Description of  Published Works."  In the references numbering must follow the order of reference in the text. References to unpublished works are not permitted. The reference list should include only the works cited in the paper.

4. Electronic version guidelines

4.1.   Formulas and text should be preferably typed in separate lines.

4.2.    Different formulas should be typed in different dollar signs with a simple gap between them.

4.3.    Sample reference structure: [1]; [1, 2, 4]; [1–5].

4.4.    Figures in the articles should be accompanied with files in  formats: JPG, TIFF, CDR, BMP (resolution - up to 600 dpi), and prints of the file pictures must be full size (the horizontal size of the field is 160 mm, label font in the figure 10-12).

Note. The date of submission is the date of receiving of the final version of the article.  The manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines are not registered and returned to the author without review. Disks and manuscripts are not returned.
